Day 6 – Life Is A Temporary Assignment

  1. As I reread today’s lesson this morning, I really liked the idea of the “spiritual green card” . Something that we can use to remind us of our eternal heavenly citizenship. We can let ourselves get so connected to this world, that we really have a hard time remembering or distinguishing what is truth and lasting vs temporary. The author goes on to say that we will never be completely happy here because we were made for more. Something inside of us is aware that this life on earth is incomplete and there really is so much more to life. We will be constantly disappointed if we seek to have complete fulfillment here on earth, so it is better that we live for the eternity that is ahead.

    1. I really enjoyed the spiritual green card reference as well. I thought that was a Godly way of looking at where we come from.
I no longer want to cheat on God and have things my own way. I want his will to order my footsteps. I like when the author said that we should make good use of the things in the world but we shouldn’t become attached to them. There were so many great reflective points in day 6 that I really enjoyed.
I also liked the part about fulfillment and happiness.. we won’t be truly happy because this isn’t where we belong.
I felt a big weight just fall off my shoulders. I can now start storing things for my eternity and reserve my feelings when I don’t feel fulfilled. In those moments I’ll look to God more. I mean after all he is funding my permanent residence.

  2. Enjoyed the video! “We are agents from God on a temporary assignment.”

Also liked what the author said that, “Christians should carry spiritual green cards to remind us that our citizenship is in heaven.” We would be reminded that our allegiance is to our true home and to our Father, the one true King. We are not here to stay, but we are also here to remind other citizens—who have so identified with this current kingdom that they have discarded their spiritual identity—who they truly are. We have been sent here with very special, purposeful, instructions and upon completion we must move on. At some point we all must go back home. Just like children who, when taken to a special place, are never quite satisfied with the time spent, always looking and asking for more “stay time”, we too can get caught up in this wonderland that we’re currently in.

The author also encourages us when he says, “Your time on earth is not the complete story of your life.” This is not the end of our story. All our heartaches, our ups, downs, sideways, even our joys and great accomplishments are not all that there is. This is only where our book begins. We must keep writing on the pages of eternity.

Much Love & God’s Very Best!

  3. Day 6
    Poetic Thought

    “The Assignment”

Remember you are only here for a little while
    So please make it count
When it’s finally time to leave here
You won’t be able to back out
Don’t get caught up in worldly values
For heaven knows where you belong
You are just here to sang the lyrics
    God wrote the song
    Don’t become a traitor
You should represent your home well
    Everlasting life and peace
Are the things you shouldn’t forget to tell
    Your assignment is an assignment
And it will be due soon
So adjust what needs to be adjusted
    Until everything is properly tuned
For when your job is over
There are no warnings or mistakes
For life is a temporary assignment
A place you simply could not stay

    1. Yes, Represent our home well. Represent Our Father well. We should go out each day remembering that we Represent the Kingdom of the Most High. Our walk, our talk and our actions should be as such. We serve and live for the Highest Authority.

  4. I know that this earth is a temporary home for us to live in with all that God has provided for us to survive here.
I am so happy that here is temporary and I can go to my homeland in heaven where there is no more sickness, no hatred, no competition.
This live is not the end of my life. I’m only here for a little while and have to be more conscious especially when situations are tough, and yes I know, it’s supposed to be tough and I know God has better for me and better is coming.

    1. Yes, so very encouraging and comforting to know we have a future home in heaven with Him. None of the problems of this life will even be a care any more. We just have to always keep that in mind and live our lives for the future eternity we are promised. That will help us to deal with the day to day stuff better, because as you wrote… better is coming!
Thank you for sharing your comment.

  5. I really love the concept of us being on a temporary assignment. It makes me think of the show “Highway to Heaven” and in each episode the two main characters get an assignment from God to enter the life of someone who needs “spiritual” help. They assume a role whether it is to become a bodyguard, high school teacher, or handyman. They accomplish the mission and then move on. We are here on earth with a mission, we assume a specific role to fulfill our purpose, and then we move on to our eternal home. This is why we as believers can have hope.
