v11 A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.
Sometimes in life it can be challenging to find the right balance. This may seem contrary, but I believe to achieve proper balance, there must be some flexibility. We must not become too rigid in any area of our lives. At one time, work may be a priority. Another time family and recreation may move to the top of your list. We must allow some “give” in every aspect of our life to prevent any one area in our life to suffer because of unyielding compromise in any other specific area. This is where our weights or balance become just..because every area is taken into account and given the necessary attention (may need to reword)
V4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
We need to know what is really important for us. What is really beneficial when we are faced with those serious challenges, the life or death challenges. Most of life, many people are focused on getting more money. Acquiring and retaining wealth. But when intense changes hit, that money will not save you from real trouble. The scriptures tells us that righteousness delivers from death. Right living, right standing, right decisions, right relationships, especially one with the Lord, can save our lives.
v14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
We’ve spent several scripture throughout Proverbs talking about the importance of having others around to give sound advice throughout life. No matter what position we are in, there is always wise counsel and wise counsellors that we should have around us. But this passage reminds again, that if we don’t have those people in our lives we are setting ourselves up for failure, and a fall. It may not happen immediately and we may experience a little success at first, but the fall will come. How we can avoid this is by having a multitude of counsellors or people who are equipped and willing to advise.
v24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
v25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
This passage of scripture seems completely contrary to conventional wisdom. In studying Proverbs, however, you will find that Godly wisdom is prevalent. Conventional wisdom says to acquire as much as possible and hold on to it. Godly wisdom says the more we are willing to give, the more He can trust us with. We must always keep in mind that all belongs to God. We are only stewards of what we have been given. Misguided thinking will lead us to believe that the more tightly we hold on to our possessions we will not lose them. However, a tightly clenched fist can neither give or receive anything. So if we give liberally, especially to meet a need, Godly wisdom ensures a bountiful return.

1A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
Things out of order or out of course frustrates God. A truth we have learned over the years is that, “Balance is the key to life.” Having a balanced life is of great importance. When our lives are imbalanced it can cause many areas to suffer. Whether mentally, emotionally, health wise, family, finances, any area out of balance can affect the other areas. For example, when we are strictly focusing on work – work, work, work – and take no time to relax and rest, we wear ourselves out It can then begin to affect such areas as our health and our relationships.
