I really like the statement that we are as close to God as we choose to be. Sometimes we may be in a situation where we don’t feel His presence and that we are alone but He said He would NEVER leave us nor forsake us. That means the responsibility is on us to choose to be close to Him by either meditating on scripture, listening to a gospel song, or just simply talking to Him.
I really enjoyed that statement as well. I also like the fact that I can be honest with God without feeling I am wrong. It brings me comfort knowing that’s what he wants anyway.
Our relationship with Him is totally dependent on us. How we respond to Him. Scripture says the He stands at the door and knocks, like a visitor coming to your home waiting for us to let Him in. He’s here for us, let Him in!
We can look on Jesus’s model for our friendship with God. He did what His father asked Him to do. He did it out of love and obedience, even obedience unto death. We can bring a smile to God’s face by just doing simple acts, telling the truth, being kind and encouraging others. What pleases Him more is our obedience. We must also have a burning passion for God. Jacob was a good example, he would not let go of God until he blessed him. God is never going to ask more than we can give.
So true, He doesn’t ask for more than we can give. We have the capacity to worship Him with what we have right now. We don’t need to wait for “the right moment”, or until we “get ourselves together”, we can worship Him today, right where you are!

Poetic Thought
“Close to God”
In his arms is where I’ll stay
Making sure our bond grows stronger everyday
I am as close to God as what I choose
He is someone that I cannot lose
Everyday I will make a choice
And I’ll call his name with power from my voice
I need to be close to God for all of my days
He is that one friend I could never let drift away
A reminder to never let ourselves drift away from Him. I often pray that He closes doors to me that will take me, or my attention, away from Him. Sometimes we see things as “opportunities” in our lives, but if these will in any way take me away from my Father, then I don’t want it at all. Walk circumspectly the Bible reminds us. Considering our daily walk and our decisions, so we can make sure they bring us closer to Him.
