Day 14
Poetic Thought
“When God Seems Distant”
When God seems distant
It may be so
Rely on your faith and not your feelings
Wrapped in his arms…, He won’t let you go
Do you believe God when nothing is happening?
When the blessings don’t seem to flow?
Do you remain faithful and hopeful?
Or do you throw a fit and put on a show?
Do you have to feel his presence to know that he is there?
Can you trust that he won’t forsake you, while in your alone time you have nothing to fear
God may seem distant
But that’s just a test to see who you are
God may be distant
But he never strays away too far
When He seems distant it’s just a test for us to see where we are in our lives. That is so true. Do we give in under pressure or do we remember His Word and stand on His promises? Thank God that our tests don’t last forever.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” That’s God’s promise to us in the good times or bad. We cannot stop trusting God because our life is out of order. God is always working on our behalf at all times . Our faith and not our feelings pleases God. Isn’t it wonderful to know that Got not only offers us comfort during our times of need but he always helps us over and above our expectations. He never goes back on His word.
He is always there. We just have to remember that and hold on to that promise – even when He may feel far apart remember He is not. How it seems, or how we feel, oftentimes is mistaken in so many areas of life. But definitely with God, He is near to us as we stay close to Him.
I thought it was interesting the part of the chapter where Rick Warren says when you are a new Christian God will give you a lot of confirming emotions. As we mature, he weans us from those dependencies. So in essence, as you become more grounded in Him you may not experience as many of those emotional euphoric highs that you “needed” during your “infancy”. We must know that we know that we know that He is with us…….even in the silence.
Yes, babies definitely need more attention. As we mature we shouldn’t expect the same treatment as when we were newer in the faith. And maybe it can be a time that we can help someone else. I find that when I may be going through something, helping someone else makes myself and them feel better.
Overall one of my greatest takeaways from our first purpose of Worship, is that it is not about us but about God. Our worship cannot be focused on us or what we may want but it’s all about Him and focusing on Him. In all of our activities we can perform it in worship to Him (except sin). No longer will I limit my worship to a particular time, or place or even type of song. But I want to be found worshipping him always.
