“Where I belong”
I belong somewhere safe
Where I can worship the Lord
I belong somewhere to fellowship
And love God together on one accord
I belong somewhere to love
Where I can be held accountable
I belong somewhere to call home
And the blessings are more than a number countable
I belong somewhere with spirit muscle
Feeling safe and secure inside
I belong somewhere with no fear
Because that’s where my God resides

Than just believe

Todays reading showed me one important thing. You can show up anywhere but it’s what you do when you get there. Being a part of something is easy but eventually you have to put some work in.. I don’t want to be a seat filler..
In God’s family we are connected to every believer and we will belong to each other until eternity. God expects us to love each other and give our lives for each other. Sometimes when a member of our spiritual family backslides it’s our responsibility to get them back on track. If we’re not a part of a church we miss out on the second purpose in life. Without church our spiritual life will wither and die.
Being part of a local church helps to make us feel connected. I can say when I ask someone what church do they belong to and they say my church, I feel somehow bonded to them. Almost like we’re in the same club.
I like the part when he talks about there is no perfect church because church is made up of imperfect people. Nevertheless we need that commitment to each other and that local body.
This chapter challenges me to not be a church attender but really be a church member.
