Day 41
Poetic Thought
“Envy”
I looked in the mirror today and thanked God for who he made me to be
I may not have what others have but God still made me perfectly
All the flaws I think I see God still made me flawlessly
I may not have all the riches in the world but I am so wealthy
I thank God for every cent and all the things he has gifted me
See when you are living for God you don’t have time to envy
My focus is only on the path God set out for me
Thankfully I’m grateful for who he has made me to be
So I won’t worry about who I’m not but only what God chose for me to be
The definition of envy simply won’t live in me
There are 4 key steps for getting rid of envy.
1. Stop comparing ourselves with others.
2. Celebrate God’s goodness to others.
3. Be grateful for who you are and whatever you have.
4. Trust God when life seems unfair.
Everything we have is a gift from God. The next breath of air is a gift from God. Envy is actually a form of rebellion against God. We are actually saying that we have a better plan for our lives than our creator. Envy poisons everything it touches and prevent God’s blessings in our lives.
This is so true what the author writes about in this chapter. In this age of social media and internet we are able to invade the lives of the rich and famous anytime we want. This is a subtle distraction to take our eyes off of what God has blessed us with already and causes us to lust over material things to at “seem” appealing. It’s a trap we need to recognize and not let it take our focus off what He has in plan for us.
